She's smart.

addendum to my halloween-hating post. the one good thing about halloween is the abundance of pumpkin flavored goodies.

I've decided I kinda hate halloween. Especially this one, which has been going on, it seems, for a week already.

Life is full of good news lately. I took my jeep in this morning because it's been acting all weird and dying all the time. I had a bad premonition that it was a transmission problem. I was right, but only in that I have a fluid leak and not in that I need a new transmission. I like how when you're bracing yourself to pay $1000 for something and it only ends up being $200 it feels like you saved all that cash.

Other good news includes but is not limited to...

1) The Red Sox won the World Series. I'm not the hugest Red Sox fan, but I do like 'em.
2) 30 Rock is still making my Thursday evenings happy.
3) We're all but done with the new Bros+Sisses record. Just some odds-n-ends and mixing left.

I don't need the NYTimes to tell me how good Tex-Mex food is, but it's still nice to get some recognition.

My jury duty experience was nice and brief. I wasn't picked to sit in judgement of an insurance premium fraud case. I'm not sure if my self-esteem will ever recover.

Aside from the sitting-in-uncomfortable-chairs-for-hours-on-end part, I actually enjoyed my day. Since there is very little in the way of parking near the courthouse, I opted to take the bus downtown and leave my car at home. All bundled up for the first real day of fall, I enjoyed my walks to and from the bus stop with my headphones blasting The Replacements and Chris Bell. If circumstances were different, I'd really like to get a job downtown/on campus and walk/bike/bus to work every day. Of course I say this now, ask me again when it's 105 in August.

There's an odd feeling in the air today. Maybe it's the moderate temperatures that make it feel like springtime outside.

Yesterday day I signed up for NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month). I don't know if I intend to really do it, but I figure that signing up would be a good start.

I'm missing my annual fall trip. Usually by this time of the year, I've been let go from work until the next January. Due to weirdo work changes I'm still working and it looks like I will be for the foreseeable future. If this continues, this will be the first time I've been home for my birthday in 3 or 4 years.

Hmm, what else...
We're playing tomorrow night at the Continental Club here in Austin. We're coming out of a self-imposed performing exile.

Guess who's got jury duty coming up? I say you're all guilty! ...of being super swell.

It was 2 1/2 long days, but we finished up the rhythm tracks for the album. For the most part it was pretty fun and relaxed (at least until the morning of the third day when 2 out of 3 of us showed up super-duper hungover). I feel like we got a lot accomplished. I think we have 2 more weeks of studio time blocked out to finish+mix the rest of the record.

Also, I would like to thank Christopher Columbus for coming over here and messing with these indigenous peoples so that I could have monday off as a paid holiday. Yay!

The new bionic woman series kinda rules. In a network tv kinda way.

We're finally heading into the studio this weekend to really start on a new album. For real this time. No more fake albums.
