This is my favorite pic from our party last friday. It's what most of the night looked like to me and, I daresay, what it looked like to Will, my bandmate and photo subject.

the party was a bit much but, hell, joe only turns 30 once. broken windows. cops. almost fights. we've yet to actually clean inside the house. yesterday was devoted to personal recovery and then to the show at emo's (which went splendidly I might add.)

ladies and gents, once again, brothers and sisters!

so if you're dead or something and missed our triumphant emo's debut last night, or if you liked it so much you need another fix RIGHT NOW! we're playing not once, but twice, on monday at ruta maya coffee house. not sure of the exact times but I think the first one is at 8pm then again a little while after that.

The new and beautiful band I'm playing with, Brothers and Sisters, is playing at Emo's this saturday, nov 19. This will the band's first show with us all actually there in one place. Imagine Neil Young had a three-way with the Beach Boys and the Mamas and the Papas (nice mental image, huh?). Anyway, please come out. The line-up looks like this...

inside stage
brothers and sisters (we play first @10pm sharp - no exceptions!)
the strange boys
loxsly
black angels (headliner)

outside stage
jana hunter
weird weeds
deerhoof! (headliner)

I like how, even though I didn't actually cut any, my hands still smell like cilantro just from the act of sorting through the bundles at the grocery store.

Today I filed for unemployment. I did this when I realized last night that I have $25 to my name and no more coming in anytime soon. I've been pretty good at stretching my resources but I think I've stretched as far as they will go.

I also am going to take a TABC class online tomorrow so I can get a job. I know, I know. Job? Yes a job. I don't know what I'm thinking either. Granted, this is still in the theory stage.

There a pretty good article on Sarah Silverman over at slate.

upcoming events of note:

sat nov 12: my friends Terry and Kelly are getting married. this will be some old school fun. people I haven't seen since high school will be there.

sun nov 13: stitch fashion show at emo's. the austin craft mafia chicks are putting on this shindig.

thurs nov 17: flicker film festival @ alamo drafthouse downtown.

fri nov 18: 5th annual scorpio birthday party.

sat nov 19: brothers and sisters will play our inaugural show as a complete band. the show is inside at emo's. we play first so probably 10ish. black angels headline inside. deerhoof headlines outside.

Jeeze, I've been in quite a fucking "mood" since I got back. Or at least since my birthday night/rampage. It's all a bit blurry but I remember going out at 8pm and also going to bed at 8:30am the next morning. When did the sun come up?

I had a great time on the trip even if I was a bit homesick and at loose ends by the time I left. I saw many places I'd never seen (mainly Utah, it seems.) I had awesome company for the trip (we had some good car ride sing-alongs which is always a good thing.)

Every time I leave this town I swear things will be different when I get back home. I'll do things that matter (comparatively speaking.) I'll get my shit straight. But, nope, just back to the same old thing.

Damn, I'll go back to watching Veronica Mars like I have been all day (it keeps me in a surprisingly sour mood.)

In a feat of unimaginable proportions, I managed to up some photos from my latest roadtrip onto flickr. Here's a link. Flickr has been acting really wonky so they may not show correctly or the descriptions might be off. I'll fix that shit later.

In other news, I'm a year older today. Go, me.

In Colorado. Long awesome road trip. Vegas was great. Loved all the old casinos (particularly the Sahara.) The new places were kind of gross and big and just way too much. Stopped at Arches Nat'l Park in Utah en route. Took about a zillion pictures there (on top of the zillion from vegas.)

Be back on monday. Tuesday is my bday so I expect drinks.
