I'm having one of those days where I wonder why I even bothered to wake up. I take that back - the last 5 1/2 years have been like that.

Good God am I hungover. Uh. It was so worth it as last night was one of the best in recent memory. I saw Rocket From the Tombs play, met a nice girl at a party and got her number, and I met "Norm" from Cheers - George Wendt. How's that shit?

Rocket From the Tombs was amazingly good for a bunch of 50 year olds. They were being some pissy bitches, though. A couple of times when people threw/splashed beer or water onto the stage they threw fits and even walked off once saying something like (this is close to their exact words), "We're not a punk band. We're a real band. Punks are people who are on the receiving end of a sexual deviant act and as we are neither women nor homosexuals, we're not punks." Then walked off stage only to return 10 minutes later and play great rock and roll for an hour.

Speaking of old guys, George Wendt (aka Norm) was at emos. He was in town making an appearance at the alamo drafthouse for his new movie directed by the guy who did reanimator. He was very friendly, hanging out, drinking and chat with people. All I got was a hand shake and a "How's it going?" but that was enough.

After the show we went to a party down south. It was pretty hopping even if it was mostly college kids but they still had beer so who was I to complain. I don't remember a whole lot about it, honestly, but man am I feeling it today.

I knew some cds of mine were missing and I just now figured out the where and when. As you may or may not remember, about a month and a half ago someone stole my discman outta my car. Well, they also took a small case of cds. Dammit. They got Holly Golightly (which was in the discman) and also 13th Floor Elevators, Bert Jansch, Kinks at the BBC, CCR, My Morning Jacket and a couple of more. Luckily, I still have the cases for these to mock me and remind me of my loss.

you are steelblue
#4682B4

Your dominant hues are cyan and blue. You like people and enjoy making friends. You're conservative and like to make sure things make sense before you step into them, especially in relationships. You are curious but respected for your opinions by people who you sometimes wouldn't even suspect.

Your saturation level is medium - You're not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it's required of you. You probably don't think the world can change for you and don't want to spend too much effort trying to force it.

Your outlook on life is brighter than most people's. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You're not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up.

Went to Emo's last night to see a couple of bands. I missed the first but up second was Greg's new band, Vice Versa. Its was good stuff. I saw em a few months back and didn't remember them being so rock and roll. Kudos to Tiffen & co. The last band was Just A Fire which is Fred from Hoover/June of 44's new band with the gtr player from sweep the leg johnny. The were really great. Noisey rock with a great groove going on thanks to one of punk rock's great bass players, Fred Erskine. It was good to hear Fred do some old fashioned yelling, too.

I tried to come up with a new random link at the right but I really like enemyhogs.com which is Oneida's homepage. Read Kid's tour diary from their recent trip to Italy. Priceless.

I've had a productive day so far. Got up and went to do some long over due laundry then came home and painted one of the two wooden chairs Holly and I found downtown on friday. Since then I've been sitting on my ass but, still, I did something.

The weekend consisted of finding the aforementioned chairs friday while downtown for Chris' show. Most of that night was spent at Casino anyway after they had played. Then Holly fell asleep/drunkenly passed out so I dropped her off at home. I tried to go back downtown but I couldn't find a space and it was 1am already anyway so I went home.

Sat I went out for Persian food for Farah's bday. It was pretty yummy although basically what I got was fried ground beef and rice. Everything else looked great, though. Then to the Hole in the Wall for some inexplicable reason. Lots of folks I knew were there so it wasn't so bad. Then evening ended at a Brian's house for a kind-of-party. Basically everyone standing around a campfire drinking beer from a keg and being really cold despite the fire.

Sunday I did nothing save for band practice. I was in a super foul mood so I skipped Erin's bowling surprise party and sat at home.
